The BlueCard Program links healthcare providers and the independent Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies across the country and around the world through a single electronic network for claims processing reimbursement. It allows members of one Blue Plan to obtain healthcare services while traveling or living in another Blue Plan service area.

BlueCard® (Out-of-State) Claims Processing
We continue to replace Legacy, our central operating system, with an updated system called Facets:

  • Beginning September 29, 2008, all claims received for out-of-state members are being processed in Facets
  • Approximately 300,000 BlueCard® Program members who live in Louisiana may be affected
  • You should notice little impact to claims processes
  • Providers may receive more than one type of payment register during transition

Questions?

Benefit Contact Information

  • Providers should call the number on the back of the member’s ID card.
  • You may also call the BlueCard Eligibility® Line at 800.676.BLUE (2583), which provides easy access to membership and coverage information on out-of-area members.  This line links you directly to the member’s local Blue Plan.
